NEEDED - Outdoor practical help

Some of the projects will require some hands-on, practical help. If you can give your time and fancy getting involved with practical work in and around the river, this could be for you!

Projects where currently help is needed are:

Meet at 10am opposite Ldl in Ruislip Road East on Tuesday 10th May for some revegetation of the riverbanks and water quality testing.

On Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th June, lets get together to build 1 or 2 wooden structures increasing diversity of water flow and plants growing on the riverbank as well as wildlife habitat variety. For more information RSVP This email address is being protected from spambots. WANTED – Misconnection identifiers

When household appliances such as toilets and washing machines are incorrectly plumbed into the surface water sewer which flows to a watercourse, instead of the foul sewer for treatment, they are 'misconnected'. Thames Water Environmental Protection Team is working hard to identify wrongly connected pipework in residential areas so we can see this problem rectified. We need help from the home owners to ensure that their properties are not misconnected. For more information see: http://www.thameswater.co.uk/help-and-advice/8198.htm

Vole – Patrols

A new project “Vole Patrol” is being run by the London Wildlife Trust to survey small mammals in and around two Ealing woodland sites. The project will be surveying for a range of small mammals including shrews, voles, wood mice, yellow necked mice and hedgehogs. These all have an important role in the ecology of our open spaces but we know very little about their distribution and numbers. This information will help us manage our parks better for wildlife. If this sounds like something you (or someone you know) might want to join-in please contact Huma Pearce by This email address is being protected from spambots.
