During March, every Thursdays (3rd, 10th, 17th) and Sunday 20th meet at the bridge on River Brent behind Mayfield Primary School in High Lane, Hanwell, W7 3RT.

Join Thames21 and Ealing Council for a day of community action and volunteering to learn new skills, meet other people and boost your confidence.

Tasks will vary and will include

  • improving a featureless, over-widen and straigthened stretch of the River Brent by installing large woody structures like berms creating inviting habitat for wildlife and like deflectors, diversifying the water flow facilitating the formation of riffles, pools and gravel banks.
  • monitoring early patches of Invasive non-native species (INNS) like Giant Hogweed (GH) and Hymalayan Balsam; managing early these plant to reduce their density, to raise people awareness about the health risk of GH and about environmental degradation linked with lower plant diversity on the riverbanks.

Everyone is welcome! Just wear comfortable and warm clothes as all tools and equipment are provided.
